Energy CheckSprint retrospective template
Quick team morale pulse — surface what's draining the team before it becomes attrition.
Columns in this template
A quick team morale pulse: what is giving the team energy, what is draining it, and what would restore it.
When to use Energy Check
Energy Check is designed for teams under pressure or going through sustained high-tempo work. It is intentionally light: 3 columns that run in 20–30 minutes and produce a clear, actionable output. Energising surfaces what to protect. Draining surfaces what to remove or reduce. Recharge produces the actions. Use it between major retrospectives, or as a quick mid-sprint pulse.
Facilitator tips
- Normalise the Draining column: frame it as useful data, not a complaint session.
- Each top-voted Draining item should produce at least one Recharge action with an owner.
- If Energising is thin, prompt the room: "what did you look forward to this sprint?" — people often forget positives when they are stressed.
